As we’ve made the jump to going independent a few years back I’ve made a few observations, both on the business landscape as well as what’s worked for us. As I know there’s quite a few out there nowadays contemplating going indie as an alternative to “working for the man”, as well as people outside the traditional games industry feeling that independent games development is a great alternative I believe this might make for an interesting subject. I promise the next piece will have more pictures, turns out this became quite a bit of a wall of text in the end :)

Sadly it contains a rather major bug, which we’ll patch later today. If you watch the whole intro the game will crash after the first level, which naturally is kind of  a nuisance. The way to avoid this currently is to hit escape or backspace in the intro.

Sadly we’ll have to delay the patch since we’ve found a crash that needs to be fixed. If you have more than 10 friends that has completed a level, viewing the leader boards for friends causes a crash to desktop. We’ve also had a lot of discussion about the controller bindings so we’ll be doing some changes on that front as well, allowing people to bind it any way they want from the settings menu. Since we’ve kind of run out of space in the settings menu we will have to do some changes to make room. We’ll be working on it over the weekend so the new patch date will be on Monday.

We’re happy that there’s been so many kind words regarding the music. The music in Nimbus was in fact a last minute heroic effort by one of our mates, Carl Karjalainen. For those who want the sound track in mp3 format it’s available here . Furthermore our first update will be hitting steam later tonight. We haven’t been able to find any issues with it, but want to make sure that it works nicely with an actual 360 controller first. Here follows the patch notes:
